AUGUST 26, 2012
It was a dream. A vision. A hope. In February of 2011 we stood on a piece of land in rural Haiti believing that God had given us that land to build a sustainable community for those Haitians still living in tent cities.
Last week, the dream became reality as I traveled to Haiti with Buddy and Linda Huff. Buddy is the President of the Board of Directors of But God Ministries. Our main goal was to move 4 families from a tent city into our new houses. God blessed greatly and we were able to move 7 families from the filth and squalor of a tent city in Port-au-Prince into their new homes.

Standing outside her new block home
Her name is “Lovely” and she was so excited to be in her new
home and to be holding her new doll that Linda Huff had given her
Standing in front of their tin house in the tent city
Receiving the keys to their new home
She worked extremely hard the first day she moved in to create
a border and rock garden around her new home
Taking pride in her new home by building the border and rock garden
Standing in the doorway of their tent
On the truck with Buddy Huff with all their belongings, about
to leave for their new home

On the porch of their new home
He didn’t know I was taking the photo. During a brief rain, he
took a break to read his Bible on the day his family moved
into their new home.
Orphanage Taking Shape
Construction has begun on the 4 buildings that will make up the orphanage. Incredible progress was made in just over a week and a half. First Baptist Pensacola and Hillcrest Baptist of Pensacola are the two churches responsible for building and maintaining this orphanage. What an amazing ministry!
Dorm #1 is one the left and has the walls completed
Approximately 30 men have been hired to work on the
orphanage, giving them dignity and income through their work

built for the orphanage
Update on Scholarships
We now have scholarships for 139 children! They will start school the first of October. So many of you contributed $25 per year for tuition for these children. The tuition allows the children to attend the school and helps to pay the teachers.
Little Feet Results
Two weekends ago a remarkable group of young ladies with the WMU at First Baptist Church Jackson, MS held their first ever Little Feet Consignment Sale with all proceeds going to But God Ministries. It was the most efficient and remarkable event of this nature I have ever seen! These women spent countless hours planning and working and we are so grateful. I am thrilled to report that they raised over $15,000 for our work in Haiti. Way to go, ladies!
West Family
Several weeks ago, Tony West, his wife Mickie, and their youngest son, Jacob, moved to Haiti to live at The Hope Center full-time. Tony is a nurse and administrator who is now operating our medical-dental clinic full-time. The Wests are a HUGE addition to our work in Haiti. I was grateful to spend several days with them last week and I can tell you they are doing a remarkable job. God knew the exact family to bring to this work, at this time, in this place. Please pray for the West family as they continue to get settled in at their new place of service.
Tony holding the stethoscope he used last week to allow a
pregnant Haitian woman to hear the heartbeat of her child.
She was amazed! And we are blessed!!Finally
God continues to show Himself in great and mighty ways as we see tremendous progress. Last week I was able to see three huge steps: (1) families moving from the tent city into our homes; (2) the orphanage being built; and (3) Tony West and his family getting settled in and seeing patients every day.
The work is going better than we ever asked or imagined. If you would like to join us in making a very real and tangible difference in the lives of hopeless people, we would love to partner with you. If you believe in this work and if you trust us to use your donation wisely, we would welcome your contribution. It takes significant resources to accomplish all that is being done. We would love for you to become a monthly contributor ($25, $50. $100, or any amount you choose) or to give a one-time gift. Click Here to give online or simply mail your gift to: But God Ministries, 1440 North State Street, Jackson, MS, 39202. May God bless you greatly as you continue to serve Him
